Held while you decide
At every tenure on this site there is something without a destination yet. On a short let it is the gap between one tenancy and the next. On a long one it is the pile nobody is ready to decide about, which is a legitimate category rather than a failure of nerve.
Holding something is not indecision. It is what keeps the decision available.
How storage works here
What gets held, by tenure
At a year or two it is a whole small household, waiting for the next tenancy to start. At five to twenty it is usually the gap in a chain, or non-essentials collected early to make the final weeks livable.
At twenty years and beyond it is the undecided pile, and that is the one this site takes most seriously. It is frequently the difference between a considered downsize and a rushed one.
The list is the product
Storage without an inventory is a container you cannot see into. Ours is made at the property as the vehicle is loaded, and it describes contents rather than counting cartons.
"Twelve cartons, contents of the back bedroom" helps nobody in nine months. That distinction is the whole reason the list is worth paying for.
Some now, some later
Partial release is the normal request here rather than an unusual one. On a downsize, what you were certain about goes into the new place on the day and the rest stays held until you have lived there a while.
Say at collection that you expect to split the load. It changes how it is stacked and it saves an afternoon of moving other people's furniture to reach yours.
What we will not do
We will not push storage onto a move that does not need it, and we will not describe it vaguely. What is held, on what terms, and the notice we need to bring it back out are written down before anything is collected.

01 How long can things stay?
As long as the decisions take. Some holds are a single night between a load and a delivery; others run for months while a downsize is worked through properly.
02 Can we get at our things?
With reasonable notice, yes. Say so before collection if you think you will want things out regularly — we will stack the load to suit that rather than to fill the space.
03 Is it insured?
Goods in store are covered to the level your storage agreement states, subject to the exclusions written there. Declare anything of unusual value before collection.
04 Can you bring the loft down and store it unsorted?
Yes, and on a long tenure it is often the humane option. It comes down, it is listed, and you go through it at ground level in your own time rather than under a rafter.
05 What cannot go into store?
Nothing hazardous, nothing perishable and nothing alive. Cash, jewellery and documents should travel with you too — a store is not somewhere you can drop in on at short notice.
06 Can you deliver to a different address than you collected from?
Yes. On most of these jobs that is the entire point — the destination did not exist when the goods were collected.
How long have you been there?
Both addresses and the number of years in the one you are leaving. That second answer tells us more about the job than anything else you could send.
